Dr. Ashley Q. Thorburn is a highly respected plastic surgeon who specializes in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery on the breast, body, and face. A native Marylander, Dr. Thorburn realized her ambition to be a surgeon when she was very young. Her undergraduate education was obtained from the University of Maryland, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Physiology and Neurobiology; the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences conferred her medical degree.
After graduation from medical school, Dr. Thorburn completed a five-year residency in General Surgery at Wright State University and focused primarily on trauma and vascular surgery. Upon her completion of that training, she went on to complete an additional three years of residency training in Plastic Surgery and Reconstruction at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. While at UAB, she participated in many complex procedures of cosmetic reconstruction and also supported many humanitarian efforts by providing reconstructive surgical treatment to patients in Honduras.
Dr. Thorburn has conducted research in plastic surgery and is a recognized author of peer-reviewed articles published in reputable medical journals and an active presenter of her research both nationally and internationally. She served with distinction in the United States Air Force, where she attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Thorburn is a provider of excellent care to her patients. Her ability to deliver excellent surgical results is matched only by her commitment to providing the best possible patient experience by combining technical skill with personal involvement. When the patient leaves her office, they feel secure and ready to enjoy life with renewed self-esteem, thanks in part to Dr. Thorburn’s dedication to treating patients as individuals and consistently going above and beyond to make sure each patient receives exceptional care.
