Arun Rao, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and founder of Rao Plastic Surgery in Tucson, Arizona, which was founded in 2012. Dr. Rao is known for his patient-centered approach and provides his patients with the comfort they need, clear communication, and personalized treatment planning.
Dr. Rao earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and went to medical school in Puerto Rico. Dr. Rao did his General Surgery residency at Michigan State University, where he received awards for his academic accomplishments, taught medical students, and obtained board certification in General Surgery. After his General Surgery training, Dr. Rao did a Burn Surgery Fellowship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and then completed a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at the University of Louisville, where he served as Chief Resident and was honored with the Academic Achievement Award. Dr. Rao became board-certified in Plastic Surgery in 2013.
Dr. Rao has hospital privileges at Tucson Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital, serving as Chief of Plastic Surgery at both locations. Dr. Rao has received numerous peer- and patient-based awards, including Castle Connolly Top Doctors and repeated recognition from Tucson Lifestyle magazine and the Arizona Daily Star.
