About Andrew J. Matthews, MD

Andrew J. Matthews, MD, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon licensed in California by the California Medical Board. A native of the Bay Area, Dr. Matthews graduated from Los Gatos High School and then obtained an AB Degree: Biochemistry from Occidental College. Following that, he attended UCSF School of Medicine, which was the beginning of a successful surgical career.

An extensive 8-year residency at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinic was where Dr. Matthews completed his training. In addition to his surgical residency, Dr. Matthews completed an intensive training program in preventative nutrition at the doctoral level. After putting in a year of intense study and performing surgery under the best surgeons in the field, Dr. Matthews moved to New York City, where he completed yet another residency and later a highly sought-after one-year fellowship in aesthetic surgery at the world-renowned Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital. Here, he trained alongside many of the top plastic surgeons in the world and honed his skills working on aesthetic and reconstructive surgeries.

After nearly 2 decades of extensive education and training in the surgical field, Dr. Matthews returned to the Bay Area and began his surgical practice in 2001. Today, he is recognized for his surgical skill, extensive training and patient-centered care philosophy, providing the highest quality aesthetic and reconstructive care to his patients in Northern California.
