About Andrew Barnett, MD

Dr. Andrew Barnett is a board-certified plastic surgeon with offices located in San Francisco and Walnut Creek, California. He has established himself as an expert who blends his love of art and science through the use of aesthetic and reconstructive techniques and approaches each patient as an individual with unique needs.

Dr. Barnett received his undergraduate education from Yale University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics and a minor in Fine Art after completing his studies in only two years. He completed his M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine as part of the NIH Medical Scientist Training Program, where he had the opportunity to conduct research with Nobel Prize-winning researcher Dr. Daniel Nathans. His plastic surgery training took place at Stanford University Medical Center, where Dr. Barnett developed expertise in craniofacial surgery, breast augmentation, facial rejuvenation and advanced reconstructive procedures.

An accomplished innovator, Dr. Barnett has created Tegaderm, which is a widely utilized dressing for burn victims. Dr. Barnett has written numerous publications on the techniques of breast surgery and facial form analysis. He also supports philanthropy through his support of Interplast, which provides reconstructive surgery to underprivileged people in places around the globe.

Dr. Barnett is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He maintains active membership in both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Outside of his medical career, he enjoys painting, sculpting, sailing, skiing and running distances in cross-country races.
