About Alfred Sofer, MD, FACS

Dr. Alfred Sofer is a board-certified plastic surgeon with a wealth of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Sofer has been in private practice since 2002, moving from Miami to New York and Connecticut and performing more than 1,000 cosmetic procedures a year.

His focus is body contouring, including liposuction, 360 liposuction, tummy tucks, Brazilian butt lifts, breast augmentation, along with arm and thigh lifts, or combined procedures such as BodybySofer (Mommy Makeover). He also offers special breast surgery for transgender patients.

Dr. Sofer graduated with distinction from Columbia University and received his medical degree from Albany Medical College. He completed residencies in general surgery at New York School of Health Sciences, trauma surgery at St. Vincent Medical Center on Staten Island and then went on to complete competitive fellowships in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, and at the Kleinert Institute in hand/microvascular surgery, where he received advanced training in replantation and hand reconstruction surgeries.

In addition to being a surgeon, Dr. Sofer is a philanthropist and works with Operation Smile, where he performs cleft surgeries on children in various countries. He has been awarded many honors, including the Castle Connolly Top Doctor Award, the Consumers’ Research Council of America Top Plastic Surgeons Award and is part of the Real Self Hall of Fame.
