About Alan Matarasso, MD

Dr. Alan Matarasso is a world-renowned board-certified plastic surgeon located in New York City. He graduated magna cum laude from Boston University and then earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his general and plastic surgery training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine–Montefiore Hospital, followed by a cosmetic surgery fellowship at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital/NYU Medical Center under Dr. Thomas D. Rees.

Dr. Matarasso is currently a Clinical Professor of Surgery at Northwell Health System/Hofstra University Zucker School of Medicine and the Systems Chief of Cosmetic Surgery. He is the author of over 1,000 academic contributions, with 357 peer-reviewed articles and 86 book chapters. He also is the co-editor for Neligan’s Plastic Surgery, 5th Edition, Volume 2 – Aesthetic Surgery.

A past president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and current president of The Plastic Surgery Foundation (2025), Dr. Matarasso is frequently recognized in periodicals such as Newsweek, New York Magazine, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar as one of America’s foremost plastic surgeons. His contributions to education, research and innovation have firmly established him as one of the most respected voices in contemporary aesthetic surgery.
