Dr. Aziz Benbrahim, MD, FACS, FASMBS, has years of experience as a leader in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery and general surgical practice. He has been with MidState Medical Center since 2002, and became the hospital’s Medical Director for Weight Management in 2004. He has served in multiple leadership capacities, including Chairman, General Surgery Section; Director, Division of Surgery; and Chairman, Perioperative Committee. He has served on the Medical Staff Executive Committee as President since 2019. In addition, Dr. Benbrahim is a Professor of Surgery at Frank H. Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.
Dr. Benbrahim is board certified in general surgery and frequently performs robotic, bariatric, and comprehensive general surgery. He received his MD degree from Hassan II University School of Medicine in Casablanca, Morocco; completed part of his surgical training in France; and completed a six-year general surgery residency at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Benbrahim completed a three-year research fellowship in vascular surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School to further advance his surgical knowledge.
Dr. Benbrahim is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is a member of many professional organizations and previously served as President of the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Committee for American College of Surgeons.
