About Dr. Atif Iqbal

Dr. Atif Iqbal is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in all types of surgical procedures, including abdominal surgery, bariatric (weight loss) surgery, and many minimally invasive surgery types, with experience across all areas of surgery. Dr. Iqbal has a special area of interest in obesity-related surgery, gastrointestinal disorders, and advanced laparoscopic techniques.

Dr. Iqbal began his professional career in medicine when he received his M.D. degree from Allama Iqbal Medical College in Pakistan in 1994. After receiving his M.D. degree, he completed his General Surgery residency at Brooklyn Hospital Center from 2001 – 2004. After completing his General surgery residency, he continued his surgical training (2004 -2006) at North Oakland Medical Center. Dr. Iqbal has received the American Board of Surgery certification.

Dr. Iqbal is a Member of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of this organization (FACS). He is involved with multiple professional organizations and has an active interest in keeping current with the latest advancements in surgery. Dr. Iqbal has been recognized in media discussions regarding obesity, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and the latest advancements in modern surgical therapies, which demonstrates his passion for treating patients and being a leading expert in the field of surgery.
