About Dr. Arturo Martinez, MD

Dr. Arturo Martinez, MD, has 25+ years of experience as a (certified) general and bariatric surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopic & metabolic weight loss surgery. He received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, followed by a residency in general surgery at Centro Medico Nacional de Especialidades “La Raza,” associated with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). He also had academic recognition from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Dr. Martinez continued to develop his skills by completing postgraduate education in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery & attended specialized schools such as Ramón y Cajal Hospital (Madrid, Spain). He is board-certified by the Mexican Council of General Surgery and the Mexican College of Bariatric Surgery and is recognized as a Master Surgeon for their excellence in patient safety and outcomes through the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC).

In addition to practicing clinically, Dr. Martinez has also held an Assistant Professor position at the Autonomous University of Baja California in General Surgery, contributed to peer-reviewed literature & has been involved internationally speaking at conferences, presenting on the techniques of bariatric surgeries.
