Dr. Arnold D. Salzberg, MD, is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in advanced gastrointestinal minimally invasive surgery and bariatric surgery. After receiving his MD from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, Dr. Salzberg completed his general surgery residency at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, followed by fellowships in Minimally Invasive Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University and Advanced GI Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Salzberg has been certified by the American Board of Surgery as a national authority on the use of advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic methods to allow patients to receive less invasive operations. In addition, his clinical interests include bariatric and gastrointestinal surgery and the use of innovative intraoperative technologies to improve surgical precision and safety.
In addition to the many scientific articles Dr. Salzberg has authored in peer-reviewed medical journals on topics such as artificial intelligence in medicine and new methods for detecting leaks from bariatric surgical procedures. Dr. Salzberg is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and has also achieved their Meaningful Use certification, which means he meets the requirements for use of electronic health records (EHRs).
