Armando Joya, MD, FACS, is a board-certified surgeon with years of experience in general and bariatric surgical practice. He graduated from the Universidad de Guadalajara and completed his general surgical training under Social Security (SSA) at the Social Services Hospital System; after finishing that portion of his training, he became the Surgeon for the SSA.
After his surgical residency, he trained extensively in Oncologic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and completed his Advanced fellowship training in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery while working at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Joya is an active member of many surgical societies, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and many Mexican surgical societies. He served as President of the Colegio de Cirujanos Generales in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. His commitment to patient-centered care drives him to provide the highest quality of surgical care available today to everyone who comes into his clinic.
