About Dr. Arif Ahmad

Dr. Arif Ahmad, MD, FACS, FRCS, is an accomplished board-certified general surgeon specializing in bariatric, minimally invasive and robotic surgery. An accomplished surgeon, Dr. Ahmad has spent his career using innovative surgical techniques and advancing patient care through improved surgical techniques to enhance surgical outcomes. He is currently based out of Port Jefferson, New York, where he runs his practice as well as serves as a professor of surgery at Northwell Health East End.

Dr. Ahmad trained in general surgery at the University of Connecticut and completed advanced training through two fellowships in surgical metabolism and parenteral nutrition at Harvard Medical School and advanced GI minimally invasive surgery at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He is also the proud recipient of an FRCS from both England and Edinburgh.

Dr. Ahmad is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is an active Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). Over the last 20 years, he has held numerous clinical leadership positions, including Fellowship Program Director and Director of the Robotic Center of Excellence at Mather Hospital, Northwell Health, where he has helped to build and develop successful robotic bariatric surgery programs.

In addition to his extensive experience in robotic bariatric surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and other minimally invasive surgeries, Dr. Ahmad has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific research papers in the area of metabolic and bariatric surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
