Dr. Aram Elahi Jawed, MD, FACS, is a general and bariatric surgeon who is certified by the board. He focuses on advanced minimally invasive surgeries of the gastrointestinal tract. His focus was on learning and mastering complex laparoscopic and bariatric surgery during a fellowship at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, where he got specialized training in Advanced GI Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Jawed had attended George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences for his MD degree and then did a surgical residency program at Atlantic Health.
He is an American Board of Surgery-certified surgeon and is licensed to practice in New Jersey. Among the surgical options, he offers bariatric surgery, minimally invasive GI procedures, and managing the long term effects of obesity. It is his mission to provide patients with safe, effective surgical options that can help them achieve their weight loss goals sustainably. Besides clinical practice, Dr. Jawed has also engaged in scholarly activity by publishing in the form of peer-reviewed articles. His primary research domain is to study the bariatric surgery outcomes with a particular focus on the issue of weight regain after bariatric procedures and a comparison between gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy regarding patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
