Dr. Antonio Gangemi, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon who is board-certified and focuses on minimally invasive, robotic, and advanced gastrointestinal surgery. He is a part of Avera Medical Group Surgery and is located at Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota. He is committed to a patient-first approach while leveraging innovation and modern technology in surgical care, even in community health settings.
Dr. Gangemi graduated with honors from the University of Reggio Calabria in Catanzaro, Italy. His general surgery residency was completed at the University of Padua and the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where he was also on the faculty and held leadership posts. He did his bioethics specialized training at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and later on, at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, took the Leadership Development for Physicians in Academic Health Centers program.
Dr. Gangemi is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. Besides, he is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). For a long time, he has been extensively involved in contributing peer-reviewed literature to the international surgical community, mainly focusing on robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, and outcomes of metabolic diseases.
