Dr. Anthony Maffei, MD, FACS, is a general surgery board-certificated and a specialist in minimally invasive bariatric surgeries. He is the Director of Bariatric Surgery at Putnam Hospital Center. Dr. Maffei had his general surgery residency at Stamford Hospital/Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and got high-level skills in complex weight-loss procedures after his fellowship training in minimal access and bariatric surgery at Westchester Medical Center.
Dr. Maffei is a professional member of the American College of Surgeons (Fellow), the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Besides being an assistant professor of surgery at New York Medical College, he has been running the NYMC Laparoscopic Simulation Lab since 2008 and collecting numerous teaching awards for his work in surgical education.
Dr. Maffei has been marked a Castle Connolly Top Doctor for the 2018-2020 period and is heading a highly skilled group with years of collective expertise in bariatric and general surgery, treating complex patients with obesity and its associated comorbidities. In addition to his work in bariatric and general surgery, body contouring and liposuction are two of his areas of focus in advanced therapy, and these techniques help optimize the aesthetics of the body and achieve long-lasting results.
