Dr. Anna R. Ibele is a surgeon who is board-certified and has expertise in the areas of bariatric surgery, minimally invasive GI surgery, and clinical research related to metabolic health. She received her MD from Wake Forest School of Medicine and completed her transitional internship at Duke University Hospital. Dr. Ibele completed her general surgery residency at The University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics and then completed a pediatric fellowship in surgery at The University of Louisville School of Medicine, where she gained specialized knowledge in performing advanced surgical procedures.
Dr. Ibele has had an impact on research by studying the link between the development of obesity, increased risk of cancer, and metabolic disorders. In addition to her research into obesity and these health issues, she has also researched how successful some new obesity treatment methods or procedures, such as Intragastric balloon systems and GLP-1-based therapies, are in achieving weight loss. Several of her research studies have been published in well-regarded peer-reviewed journals, which have helped to support using an evidence-based approach to the treatment of obesity and its long-term disease prevention. Dr. Ibele is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is dedicated to providing patient-centered care to enhance the overall health outcomes for patients she is treating through safe, effective, and personalized treatment plans.
