Dr. Andre F. Teixeira is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive and advanced techniques for the treatment of obesity and other weight-related health problems. He practices at the Orlando Health Weight Loss and Bariatric Surgery Institute, where he offers a full range of surgical options to help patients achieve better health through surgery.
Dr. Teixeira received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Augusta State University, then earned his medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his general surgery internship and residency at Orlando Health, Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was also the chief resident. After finishing his training, he completed a fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Minimally Invasive Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Florida to further enhance his skills.
Some of Dr. Teixeira’s surgical procedures include Gastric bypass, Sleeve gastrectomy, Duodenal switch, SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodenal-Ileal Bypass with Sleeve), Bariatric revision surgery, and Bariatric endoscopic surgery. In addition, he has performed Hernia repairs, Hiatal hernia surgery, Gallbladder surgery, Splenectomy, Adrenalectomy, Abdominal wall reconstruction, and Endoscopic weight loss procedures.
Research by Dr. Teixeira has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Obesity, Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases, and The American Surgeon. He is an active member of multiple professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
