About Dr. Amy Elizabeth Martin

Dr. Amy Elizabeth Martin, MD, is a General Surgeon who became board-certified when she passed the American Board of Surgery examination in 1995. Throughout her career, Dr. Martin has emphasized patient safety and quality care based on scientific evidence and has been devoted to incorporating modern technology into her surgical practice. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in 1992. She then completed her training as a General Surgeon by first completing a residency at the University of Washington from 1992-1994, followed by an Advanced General Surgery Residency at the University of Pennsylvania Health System from 1994 to 1998, which is one of the top academic medical centers in the United States.

In addition to being board-certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Martin has been licensed to practice medicine in multiple states (New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Washington, Colorado, Wyoming, and Virginia), thus reflecting her wide-ranging and diverse experiences in different healthcare systems. Dr. Martin is also an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which helps provide the highest level of educational training for surgeons to provide the best possible care to their patients.

Throughout her career, Dr. Martin has continuously embraced advances in technology applied to the delivery of healthcare and participatory quality improvement efforts, receiving numerous certifications from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services demonstrating her Meaningful Use of electronic health record systems, including Allscripts TouchWorks EHR and HealthGrid Collaboration.
