About Dr. Amir H. Moazzez

Dr. Amir H. Moazzez is an award-winning Board-Certified Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeon at Inova and is considered one of the leading Bariatric Surgeons in Washington DC. With specializations in Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) procedures, Dr. Moazzez has accomplished over 5000 Bariatric surgeries (Lap-Roux-en Y, Lap-Sleeve, Gastric Banded Surgery, hernia and gallbladder) through Traditional open procedures as well as by Laparoscopy; Robotic methods.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Moazzez served as Chief of Surgery for Inova Fair Oaks Hospital, Medical Director of the Inova WLS program, Director of the Minimally Invasive (Bariatric Fellowship Program) and was trained as a Bariatric Surgeon during his experiences at Georgetown University Hospital. He has also spent his entire career working towards improving the quality of life of patients dealing with weight issues and/or obesity.

Dr. Moazzez was born and raised in Washington DC and has lived in McLean, Virginia, for the last 15 years with his wife and two children. Dr. Moazzez enjoys riding a bicycle, exercising, and spending time with his family in his free time and is a Washingtonian “Top Doctor” (2022-2024) and Northern Virginia Magazine 2022-2024 Top Doctor, due to his work as an Expert, Compassionate and dedicated medical professional.
