About Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez

Dr. Ambrosio Hernandez is an experienced surgeon who specializes in both general surgery and pediatric surgery, currently operating out of Pharr, Texas. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Texas at Pan American in 1990, he went on to further his studies by obtaining his medical degree from the University of Michigan in 1995. Dr. Hernandez continued developing his education with an internship and residency in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery through the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.

Following the completion of his surgical training, he returned to Pharr in 2004, where today he is the Medical Director of Surgical Services for Driscoll Children’s Hospital in McAllen, TX, and a board member/chief compliance officer for DHR Health. In addition to his professional commitments, Dr. Hernandez is also active in his community through various youth programs and leadership roles with organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, Border Health PAC and The Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (ACCT).

Dr. Hernandez is very passionate about helping his patients achieve long-term, healthy lifestyle changes through a patient-centered and multi-disciplinary approach to weight management.
