About Dr. Allison Marie Barrett, MD

Dr. Allison Marie Barrett, M.D., is a certified general surgeon with additional board certification in bariatric surgery and director of bariatric surgery at Lancaster Medical Center. Her specialty is bariatric and foregut surgery, as well as total body weight loss management using advanced surgical techniques, minimally invasive surgery, or both; thus helping people achieve long-term health.

Dr. Barrett completed her premed degree at Washington University in St. Louis before going on to earn her M.D. degree from Boston University School of Medicine (2008). She completed her general surgery residency at NYU Grossman School of Medicine (2008-2013) and a post-residency fellowship in advanced gastrointestinal minimally invasive bariatric surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles in 2014.

She is certified by the American Board of Surgery and possesses current licenses to practice medicine in California and Pennsylvania. In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Barrett is also an active member of both the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES).

Along with her clinical work, Dr. Barrett has been involved in numerous scientific projects as a co-author and primary author of several research papers published in peer-reviewed journals addressing topics such as outcomes and complications from sleeve gastrectomy procedures, among others.
