As an accomplished general/bariatric surgeon, Dr. Alberto Carlos Rivas, MD, has vast experience providing care to his patients at his office in Tijuana, Mexico. Dr. Carlos is a member of the Mexican College of Surgery for Obesity and Metabolic Disease (AC) and recently became one of only 80 surgeons in all of Mexico who are certified to perform bariatric surgery by the Mexican Board of General Surgery (SMCGS).
Dr. Carlos earned an MD from the Faculty of Human Medicine, Autonomous University of Nayarit, in 2006 and underwent his General Surgery residency at National Medical Center Northwest of IMSS, where he graduated with distinction as the best resident and served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Carlos continues to develop his surgical skills through advanced training in Laparoscopic, Single Incision and Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. Additionally, Dr. Carlos has attended international training sessions and conferences related to laparoscopic surgery organized by the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity(IFSOM) and the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery(AMEE). Dr. Carlos was made a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 2020.
