Dr. Ahad M. Khan is a board-approved medical and surgical specialist who spends his life helping people get back to the quality and length of life they desire through compassionate and individualized services. His background includes training on how to care for the special physical and emotional issues that someone having bariatric surgery may face to ensure that each person is supported and treated with dignity throughout their entire process.
Dr. Khan believes that a successful bariatric operation begins with an individualized treatment plan that has been collaboratively developed. He partners with his patients to set realistic weight-loss objectives and find the most effective and safest surgical option. Dr. Khan provides different minimally invasive methods for reducing body weight, such as LAP-BAND®, laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. He also has incision-less StomaphyX procedures for patients who have regained weight following surgery.
In addition to helping patients achieve their goals through a successful bariatric procedure, Dr. Khan has expertise in other minimally invasive and noninvasive methods of body contouring (e.g., SmartLipo and Cellulaze) and treatment of gastrointestinal problems (e.g., liver, pancreas, and gallbladder). Dr. Khan completed his residency in general surgery at the University of Southern California (USC), Huntington Memorial Hospital, and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), along with a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at UC San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Khan is currently an active member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), and American Medical Association (AMA). Dr. Khan also has research experience through national-level advisory committee membership.
