About Dr. Afshin Eslami, MD

Dr. Afshin Eslami is an experienced General surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery as well as trained in both Bariatric surgery through Fellowship training, along with performing many minimally invasive surgeries. He received his medical degree from the Islamic Azad University in Tehran, Iran. Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Eslami completed an internship and residency in General Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Systems in Baltimore.

With over 7,000 surgical cases performed as both a General surgeon and a Bariatric surgeon, Dr. Eslami possesses extensive surgical expertise along with a long-standing dedication to the highest standards of surgical excellence. Subsequent to completing his residency, he underwent advanced Fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery through Baylor College of Medicine, as well as additional specialized training in minimally invasive Body Contouring Surgery through the Sono Bello Aesthetic Fellowship Program. In addition to being a Certified Member of the American Board of Surgery (ABS), Dr. Eslami is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS).

Dr. Eslami’s approach to patient care is based upon a foundation of: Accessibility, Empathy & Patient Education. In addition to partnering with patients to create realistic expectations and reach Goals and Objectives, he also enjoys actively engaging his patients in the process of achieving Sustainable & Meaningful Change. In addition to his medical profession, Dr. Eslami is musically versatile as he plays various instruments and appreciates the cultural richness of classic Persian Music.
