About Dr. Abraham Krikhely, MD, FACS

The Chief of the Division of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Dr. Abraham Krikhely, is a specialist in robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic techniques in the field of weight loss surgery, foregut surgery, as well as general surgical practices.

Dr. Abraham Krikhely obtained his undergraduate degree from the NYU Stern School of Business, followed by earning his M.D. from the NYU School of Medicine, where he completed his General Surgery Residency. He completed his Fellowship training in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center. After several faculty positions at Maimonides Medical Center, Dr. Krikhely became an official member of Columbia University in 2015, where he also serves as the Program Director of the Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery.

Dr. Krikhely has been one of the earliest advocates of performing robotic Bariatric Surgery, and he has been the Chair of the Robotic Surgery Committee at Columbia University since 2017. He has assisted with the development and growth of the Robotic Surgery Program at Columbia University Medical Center. He has authored several textbook chapters, given numerous presentations, and provided advanced Robotic training to surgeons.

Dr. Krikhely specializes in many surgical procedures, including Gastric Bypass (Roux-en-Y), Sleeve Gastrectomy, Hiatal Hernia Repair, Anti-Reflux Surgery, and Endoscopic Interventions. Dr. Krikhely has a strong dedication to teaching and innovation, in addition to providing patients with safe, effective, and minimally invasive methods for the purposes of weight reduction through his advanced skills as a surgeon.
