Dr. Abraham “Abe” Fridman, DO, serves as the Director of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery at Griffin Hospital Bariatrics. He offers complete surgical care for patients looking for ways to lose weight. He is skilled in performing all kinds of bariatric surgeries, including gastric bypass surgery, gastric sleeve surgery, gastric band surgery, and revisional surgeries. He also performs many types of minimally invasive surgeries for patients suffering from gastrointestinal issues, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), hiatal hernias, appendicitis, and gallbladder disease.
Dr. Fridman received his medical degree from both Cornell University and the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his general surgical residency at both SUNY Downstate and Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he received the Sampath Kumar Award for being the best surgical resident. He then completed a fellowship in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Florida under the leadership of renowned bariatric surgeon Dr. Raul Rosenthal.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Fridman has also published several articles in Bariatric Times, and authored a chapter in a book on bariatric surgery and has spoken at national meetings of American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS) and Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and is actively involved as a member of these organizations, the American College of Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, and SAGES.
