About Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira, MD

Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira, MD, FASMBS, FACS, is board-certified as a Bariatric Surgeon and General Surgeon. Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira has extensive experience performing metabolic and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgical techniques.

After graduating from medical school at Bangalore Medical College in India, Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira completed his residency in General Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine and Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Resident. After completing his residency in General Surgery, he completed an additional year of training in General Surgery at Abington Memorial Hospital. All these years of training provide Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira with a solid foundation for surgical care.

Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira then completed an Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital. He received training in many different procedures, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and revisional bariatric surgery, so that he has a solid foundation of knowledge and experience in performing safe, effective and individualized surgical care to patients who are looking for ways to lose weight and improve their overall metabolic health.

Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira is currently Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and has Fellowship status with the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (FASMBS). By achieving these certifications and Fellowships, he is dedicated to maintaining a high standard of practice in the field of surgery.

Dr. Abhiman Basvappa Cheeyandira currently practices at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, where his focus is on providing patient-centered care by combining the technical skills associated with the performance of surgery with a compassionate approach to each patient.
