About Dr. Abel Enrique Bello, MD

Dr. Abel Enrique Bello, M.D., is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon who performs advanced laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive surgery. He practices at M.I.B. Surgery, which is located in Plantation, Florida. M.I.B. Surgery offers patients a wide range of surgical services, including bariatric surgery, reflux surgery, robotic surgery (using the da Vinci® Surgical System), and flexible endoscopy. Dr. Bello’s general surgery specialty includes performing surgeries for hernia repair, gallbladder disease, thyroid disorders, cancers, and abdominal conditions.

Dr. Bello received his medical degree from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (Autonomía de Santo Domingo) in the Dominican Republic, graduating cum laude. He completed his general surgery residency training in the U.S.; he completed his residency at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital in New York City and Northside Regional Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio. He then went on to complete his fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatric surgery at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bello has also acted as a medical educator and consultant to health professionals in the field of minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, has given lectures at medical and scientific meetings and written scientific research in this area. Dr. Bello is very active in the field of academic medicine and continues to publish and conduct research, continuing his education to better his surgical care.
