About Dr. Abdelaziz Aziz Richi

Dr. Abdelaziz Richi is an experienced surgeon who has dedicated his career to learning about the practice and ethics of performing complex surgeries. He received his MD from the University of Damascus, Faculty of Medicine, completing his residency at Worcester City Hospital after completing additional surgical training through several surgical residencies, including one at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).

After completing his surgical training, he went through another year-long cardiothoracic residency at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where he served as Chief Resident. During this time, he gained extensive experience using new techniques within the cardiac and thoracic area, allowing him to develop advanced skill sets in providing care for patients suffering from cardiac and thoracic diseases.

In addition to this training, he is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a diplomate with the American Board of Thoracic Surgery; thus, it verifies his continuous commitment to excellence in surgical care and adherence to strict standards of surgical practice.

Dr. Richi has gained a clinical interest in utilizing robotic technology to provide more advanced treatment options for patients undergoing bariatric surgeries, including laparoscopic light bands, RNY (gastrojejunal) anastomoses, sleeve procedures, etc. He is a member of and actively involved in the American College of Surgeons, as well as the American College of Chest Physicians. In addition, he is affiliated with Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, CT, USA.
