About Andrew Blount, MD

Dr. Andrew Blount has a certification as a plastic surgeon by the American Board and works as a faculty member at Dignity Health Medical Group within the Department of Plastic Surgery at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Medical Center. Dr. Blount focuses on plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, and hand surgery, with advanced training in surgical treatment for nerve injuries (brachial plexopathy and lower extremity peripheral neuropathy).

Dr. Blount completed medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. After obtaining his degree, he completed his fellowship in integrated plastic surgery at Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, where he obtained extra training in surgery during the early years of his residency. Following this training, he completed a fellowship in hand surgery at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital, which allowed him to expand his knowledge and expertise related to performing the complex surgical procedure of repairing nerves and complex upper extremities.

Over his career, Dr. Blount has authored numerous articles, been a participant in many clinical trials and conducted numerous peer-reviewed publications about nerve entrapment surgery, hand reconstruction surgery and other innovative ideas in the field of plastic surgery. Dr. Blount has presented his work at many national meetings and has had a great deal of cited work.

Dr. Blount holds certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery with a subspecialty certification in Hand Surgery. He provides comprehensive and patient-centered surgical care with the aim of restoring function and improving the quality of life for patients through advanced techniques of reconstructive surgery.
