About Dr. Alae Zarif

Dr. Alae Zarif is a medical doctor who has received board certification in the field of general surgery. He specializes in breast surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgicalprocedures. He treats both patients through consultation and performs low-risk surgical procedures for patients at the TidalHealth Atlantic facility located within the community of Berlin, MD, from his office at TidalHealth General Surgery.

Dr. Zarif completed his residency in General Surgery in 1996 at Waterbury Hospital (highly recognized as a Yale-affiliated surgical training program) and, since that time, has developed a strong reputation for consistently providing high-quality surgical care through the use of minimally invasive techniques, as well as patient-centric care.

His clinical excellence in general surgery includes breast, oncologic, laparoscopic surgery, vascular access and general surgery procedures. One of the more recognized procedures that Dr. Zarif has successfully mastered, laparoscopic gallbladder removal, has resulted in Dexur designating him as one of the Top 100 Laparoscopic Gallbladder Surgeons in the United States. Coastal Style magazine has recognized and rewarded Dr. Zarif for excellence in General Surgery through the publication of numerous “Best Of” Readers’ Choice Awards.

Dr. Zarif has met the American Board of Surgery Certification criteria and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. Dr. Zarif has dedicated his time and efforts through his affiliation with TidalHealth to provide each patient residing within the Eastern Shore community with surgical care that is both compassionate and personalized.
