In his role as a General Surgeon, Dr. Alan C. Geiss, MD, FACS, has extensive experience in performing bariatric and minimally invasive surgeries. His experience as a surgeon and researcher into surgical care has established him as a leader within the field of obesity surgery.
Dr. Geiss received his Doctor of Medicine from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, followed by a transitional internship at Jacobi Medical Center, and surgical residency at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, an internationally recognised institution for advanced surgical education and training.
Dr. Geiss is licensed to practice surgery in New York State and has been involved with the development and implementation of several laparoscopic procedures, including bariatric surgical treatments, for many years. His primary clinical interest is in laparoscopic surgical procedures as they pertain to the treatment and management of complications related to the use of various types of bariatric devices and surgical procedures.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Geiss contributes to the medical literature through his research and publications on topics related to laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding and other related laparoscopic surgical methods. His research work is published in various peer-reviewed journals dedicated to the fields of minimally invasive and bariatric surgical disciplines. Dr. Geiss is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and is also a member of the American College of Surgeons.
