Dr. Alana Chock obtained her medical degree from Georgetown University, where she graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors. In 2007, she became double-board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Chock has extensive experience in bariatric surgery, including both metabolic and minimally invasive approaches, and she has practiced in the field exclusively since that time. In 2020, Dr. Chock received the Focused Practice Designation (FPD) in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery from the American College of Surgeons. After completing her general surgery residency at UC San Diego, she underwent additional fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the Texas Endosurgery Institute in San Antonio, Texas. While at UC San Diego, Dr. Chock served as an instructor to residents and surgeons in training and Director of the Department of Surgery’s Hernia Center.
Dr. Chock is an active member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery; she has served as both President and Vice President of the Washington State Chapter of ASMBS. Her primary research interests include, but are not limited to, clinical outcomes, obesity, weight loss, metabolism, and body composition.
