About Dr. Alexander S. Tovar

Alexander S. Tovar, MD, FACS, is a Board Certified General Surgeon with over two decades of experience, located in Burbank, California, who offers comprehensive surgical care to all of his patients and has a broad skill set within general surgery, including the experience to perform many of the surgical disciplines laparoscopically for patients having gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr. Tovar received his MD from Harvard Medical School, and then completed his residency training in General Surgery at The University of Southern California, Los Angeles General Medical Center (USC/LA General), where he received extensive training in both conventional/open and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Tovar is Board Certified in General Surgery through the American Board of Surgery and maintains an active California License to Practice Medicine. Dr. Tovar’s contribution to the field of surgery includes research and examination of laparoscopic anti-reflux operations, as well as the treatment of large hiatal and paraesophageal hernias. Through the results of Dr. Tovar’s published research and clinical work, he has helped to develop innovative techniques that improve the outcome for patients with GERD and patients with complex hernia medical problems.

Dr. Tovar is recognized for his commitment to providing excellent patient care and providing quality surgical services.
