In her role as a board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Amy W. Olsen Johnson, MD, has gained extensive expertise in providing surgical care and conducting clinical research. Dr. Johnson is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care through the implementation of modern surgical techniques and evidence-based practice to improve patient outcomes.
Dr. Johnson received her Doctor of Medicine from Wake Forest School of Medicine in 1997 and then completed a general surgery residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (1997-2002) with extensive training in surgical techniques and patient care.
Dr. Johnson is a board-certified general surgeon through the American Board of Surgery and has held medical licenses in North Carolina, Kentucky, Massachusetts and Georgia. Dr. Johnson takes pride in maintaining professional standards and staying abreast of advancements in healthcare technology.
Dr. Johnson has made contributions to surgical research, including her well-known publication in the Annals of Vascular Surgery on the surgical management and outcomes of acute occlusive mesenteric ischemia. Her research demonstrates her commitment to improving surgical outcomes and increasing medical knowledge. Dr. Johnson is also certified as Meaningful Use by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the successful implementation of electronic health records.
