Dr. Aurora D. Pryor, MD, MBA, FACS, FASMBS, is a renowned national and international authority on minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. At present, she is serving as the surgeon in chief of Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital, the Chairperson of Surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and the President of Brown Surgical Associates.
Dr. Pryor has experience in multiple significant leadership roles during her career, including the previous positions of surgeon in chief at Long Island Jewish Hospital and the system director for Bariatric Surgery at Northwell Health. In addition to these roles, Dr. Pryor served as a Professor of Surgery in the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.
Originally from Michigan, Dr. Pryor obtained her undergraduate degrees in biomedical engineering and electrical engineering from Duke University. She then obtained her medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine. After completing a general surgery residency and a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery at Duke, Dr. Pryor continued to serve at Duke University School of Medicine as a faculty member and in various leadership roles.
