Dr. Alain Abdo is a bariatric surgeon (an expert in obesity surgeries) who has expertise in minimally invasive and robotic (da Vinci robotic) surgery. As a certified user of da Vinci robotic surgical technologies, he can perform advanced procedures with incredible precision and get better recovery results for patients.
He received his undergraduate degree from Lebanese University and then relocated to the Baltimore area to complete his surgical residency. He completed a final residency in Bariatric Surgery & Minimally Invasive Surgery at Saint Agnes Hospital, where he had extensive experience in surgical treatment for obesity and obesity-related medical problems.
In addition to his training, he spent his clinical rotations at several top hospitals: Johns Hopkins Hospital, University of Maryland Medical Center, and MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. These experiences allowed him to gain expertise from many different specialties, including general surgery, pediatric surgery, trauma surgery, transplant surgery, and burn care.
When not seeing patients, Dr. Abdo is actively involved in advancing medical knowledge and research through conducting, publishing, and presenting scientific studies on a variety of topics. Dr. Abdo is a member of the American College of Surgeons and is fluent in English, French, and Arabic, allowing him to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and provide them with personalized care.
