Almino Cardoso Ramos, MD, PhD, an internationally recognized specialist in Bariatrics and Metabolic Surgery, is a world leader in the treatment of obesity. As President of the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO), he has devoted his entire professional life to the worldwide advancement of bariatric and metabolic surgery.
He has a Master’s degree and a PhD in Surgery, and he is also a Professor at the University of São Paulo (Brazil) and the State University of Campinas (Brazil). In addition, Dr. Ramos is the Medical Director of the Gastro-Obeso Center – Metabolic Optimization Center in São Paulo, which is a Center of Excellence for bariatric and metabolic surgery.
Dr. Ramos is certified by the Brazilian College of Surgeons (CBC), the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery (CBCD), and the Brazilian Society of Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (SBCBM) in general surgery, digestive surgery and bariatric surgery. Since 1999, Dr. Ramos has focused exclusively on bariatric and metabolic surgery, and he is extensively experienced with laparoscopic procedures such as Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery, sleeve gastrectomy, revisional surgery, and metabolic procedures.
