About Dr. Andrew P. Kramer

Andrew P. Kramer, DO, is a Board Certified General and Bariatric Surgeon with extensive expertise in the field. He has successfully performed over 1,300 bariatric procedures at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee, where he practices at Surgical Associates of Kingsport. He has aided patients in attaining significant, long-term health improvements through surgical intervention.

What distinguishes Dr. Kramer’s work from other surgeons is that he himself underwent Lap-Band® surgery as a patient in 2004. Having first-hand experience of the obstacles faced as a bariatric patient and the quality-of-life improvements resulting from surgical intervention has enabled him to develop strong relationships with his patients during their journeys of weight loss.

In 1987, Dr. Kramer received his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his General Surgery Residency at Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Stratford, New Jersey. He is American Osteopathic Board of Surgery Board Certified in General Surgery.

In addition to his clinical practice, he serves as the Medical Director of the Comprehensive Weight Management Center (CWMC) at Holston Valley Medical Center. He is a Verified Surgeon of the Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), and he is a founding member of the Virginia Bariatric Society and a member of the Tennessee Bariatric Society.
