About Dr. Ary Zarate, MD

Dr. Ary Zarate is recognized as one of North America’s leading weight loss/bariatric surgeons who has helped many patients improve their health and quality of life with the latest minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgical techniques, such as laparoscopic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, endoscopic mini gastric bypass and the ORBERA Intragastric Balloon, to name a few.

In 2013, Dr. Zarate completed his medical school training at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (Anahuac University) in General Surgery, then completed further training in 2015 to become a qualified expert in Multidisciplinary and Surgical Management of Obesity at the Hospital Universitario Clínico San Carlos in Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Zarate has performed approximately 2,500 bariatric surgeries in his 10 years of surgical practice. His current certified surgical weight-loss consultancy includes an average of 8-10 bariatric surgeries per month and provides continued evidence of his surgical qualifications and patients’ comfort and trust. Dr. Zarate has extensive international surgical experience, as he has previously worked in Spain and Brazil; he began his professional surgical career at the Star Médica Hospital in Chihuahua, Mexico, and currently works at the Hospital de la Familia as an experienced and professionally qualified bariatric surgeon.
