About Dr. Audencio Alanis, MD

Dr. Audencio Alanis has been dedicated to providing quality surgical care through traditional and minimally invasive surgery for many years. He graduated from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, located in Monterrey, Mexico, with his medical degree in 1978. After moving to the United States, Dr. Alanis went on to complete his surgical residencies at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey (Hahnemann University, Philadelphia, PA affiliate) and St Mary Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut (Yale University, New Haven, CT affiliate). He completed a fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.

Dr. Alanis is board-certified by the American Board of Abdominal Surgery and actively participates in various organizations, including the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Since opening his practice in Texas in 1986, he has performed over 3,000 bariatric surgeries, including laparoscopic gastric banding, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and sleeve gastrectomy.

Dr. Alanis also performs many other minimally invasive procedures in addition to bariatric surgery, including laparoscopic cholecystectomy, ventral hernia repair, and Nissen fundoplication. In addition, Dr. Alanis is fluent in Spanish and is dedicated to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
