Dr. Whittwell received his medical degree from Cayetano Heredia University (Cay) in Peru (suburban Lima) in 1979; completed a residency in general surgery and graduated from the University of Miami/Jackson Health System, and completed his residency in surgical critical care from the University of Miami/Jackson Health System between 1986 and 1988. His education/experience have provided Dr. Whittwell with an abundant background in both complex surgical procedures, which form the basis for assessing the acuity of patient care. Dr. Whittwell is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery and holds a current license in Florida.
Patient care is at the foundation of Dr. Whittwell’s practice, and he has committed to providing excellent care to patients with obesity/weight management issues through both surgical and non-surgical means.
