About Andrew Gear, MD

Andrew Gear, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has founded Providence Plastic Surgery & Skin Center in Charlotte, NC. A surgeon whose approach to plastic surgery is based on achieving the highest standards of artistry and precision while putting patients’ needs first, Doctor Gear has developed his practice around innovation, state-of-the-art safety and care customized to meet each patient’s unique needs.

He has completed extensive training in plastic surgery, far exceeding that of most plastic surgeons, including the following phases of training: a general surgery residency, a fellowship in plastic surgery research, a three-year residency in plastic surgery and the final phase of his training with fellowships in craniofacial and cosmetic surgery. This training has prepared him well to perform all forms of plastic surgery, including breast enhancements, tummy tucks, 360 liposuction, “mommy makeovers” and facial rejuvenation.

Dr. Gear is considered one of the leading advocates in North Carolina for the development and use of the new protocols being developed by Enhanced Recovery (ECP). He has pioneered many key innovations, including enhanced recovery protocols, safety technologies, and standards of post-surgical care through his research in both lymphatic massage and engineered compression.

Dr. Gear comes from a family lineage of physicians who were considered pioneers within the profession. Much of what he learned about being a physician has come from the fact that he has always approached his patients with curiosity, compassion, and a pursuit of knowledge that has helped them feel more confident, look better and live a more active lifestyle.
