Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew M. Schneider exemplifies a unique combination of surgical skill, artistic insight, and empathy for patients in his practice. His career began in Richmond, VA, which is also his hometown. Dr. Schneider graduated with his undergraduate degree from Princeton University (1987), where he studied Architecture and developed both a creative aesthetic and an analytical approach to his work. He went on to attend the Medical College of Virginia to obtain his Doctorate of Medicine, where he graduated within the top 5% of his class. He was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society for academic excellence while in medical school and received the distinguished “Best in Surgery” Award.
Dr. Schneider completed his residency in General Surgery at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Plastics at Wake Forest Medicine. As a resident fellow, he traveled worldwide to perform cleft lip surgeries and performed humanitarian work in India, Ecuador, Peru, and the former Soviet Union with organizations like Operation Smile. His work has been highlighted nationally on the Learning Channel with his segment on “Personal Story”.
Since he joined Forsyth Plastic Surgery in 1999, Dr. Schneider has been the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Forsyth Medical Center and has held several leadership positions in the practice. A strong advocate for education, charity work, and the arts, he is also on the board of directors for several non-profit organizations.
