Dr. Alireza Najafian, MD, is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon based in Eugene, Oregon, and is committed to delivering personalized, patient-centered care. Hailing from Isfahan, Iran, which is an area famous for art and culture, Dr. Najafian grew up with a love for music, photography, painting, and Persian literature that greatly influenced his artistic approach to surgery.
He completed his medical school training at Iran University of Medical Sciences (IUMS) following a period in which he served as a primary care and emergency physician in rural areas, where he gained a holistic understanding of patient care. Dr. Najafian then spent time as a post-doctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital, during which he published over 40 peer-reviewed articles. He has developed a strong background in medical research.
He carried on with his surgical training in the United States, completing residency training in general surgery and plastic & reconstructive surgery at some of the best programs in the country, including Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). His clinical interests include cosmetic, hand, craniofacial, gender-affirming, microsurgery, cancer, and trauma reconstruction.
After joining Dr. Mark Jewell’s private practice, Dr. Najafian opened his own practice, Reza Najafian MD PC, in 2024. He values workplace teamwork, evidence-based practice, safety, and high-quality surgical care with the assistance of his talented team members, Becky and Amy. Outside of the office, Dr. Najafian enjoys hiking, running, art, photography, rockhounding, cooking, and wine tasting- all while enjoying the natural beauty of Oregon and applying artistry and precision to care for his patients.
