About Ali Gurlek, MD

Prof. Dr. Ali Gürlek, MD, is an esteemed plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgeon who has experience of more than 35 years in plastic surgery and 40 years in the field of medicine. He was born in 1959 in Ankara, Turkey. After earning his medical degree, he began his career as a plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

Prof. Gürlek has served as the Head of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division of the İnönü University Faculty of Medicine, Turgut Özal Medical Center, as well as serving in various other academic positions. In 1998, he became an associate professor and has made great contributions to both practical and theoretical (research) practices in the field of plastic surgery. His post-doctoral fellowship at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, further enhanced his skills in reconstructive surgery.

Throughout his career, Prof. Gürlek has been commended for his aesthetic accomplishments combined with functional outcomes while always considering patient satisfaction and safety as a top priority. He has authored a number of scientific studies both nationally and internationally and has remained an active participant in modern techniques and innovative methods in the field of plastic surgery.

Prof. Gürlek speaks fluent Turkish, English, and French, and continues to utilize his vast knowledge and experience in the field of plastic surgery in his private practice in Bakırköy, Istanbul. He is extremely devoted not only to his patients but also to medical education, while always contributing to the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery over the course of his lifelong career.
