Alexander Slocum, Jr, MD, PhD, FACS, is a board-certified plastic surgeon and reconstructive surgeon in New Hampshire. A native of New Hampshire, Dr. Slocum attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he earned a bachelor’s, master’s and PhD in mechanical engineering, with his doctoral research focused on the design of a rolling-contact knee joint. Dr. Slocum is a patent holder in medical device design and machines.
He completed medical school at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University before completing a general surgery internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and an integrated plastic surgery residency in Wisconsin. After returning to New Hampshire, he became board-certified in plastic surgery before establishing a private practice, Seacoast Plastic Surgery and Medical Aesthetics, which provides medical care using both the precision of science and artistry.
Dr. Slocum specializes in both cosmetic and reconstructive procedures with a focus on personalized treatment, natural results, and patient safety. Outside of the office, he is a skilled artisan and enjoys working with wood and metal, as well as weightlifting and snowboarding. He shares family life with his wife and three children and is always on the lookout for an appropriate dad joke, which has helped nurture a welcoming, personal, and approachable atmosphere during consultations.
