Amy Colwell, MD, is an experienced, prominent board-certified plastic surgeon who focuses her practice on cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries of the breast, body, and face. She finished her general surgical residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, completed a three-year plastic surgery residency through the Harvard Combined Program, and completed a research fellowship at Stanford University. Dr. Colwell was named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor and is the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
Throughout her career, Dr. Colwell has earned a national reputation for her work in the field of breast surgery, which includes breast reconstruction following mastectomy, breast augmentation, breast lift surgery, and breast reduction. She is one of the leading surgeons in performing immediate implant-based breast reconstructions following nipple-sparing mastectomies and has published multiple articles related to improving techniques and outcomes of these breast surgery procedures.
Dr. Colwell’s other surgical interests include, but are not limited to: abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and body contouring procedures after childbirth or extreme weight loss, as well as facial rejuvenation procedures, including facelift, eyelid rejuvenation surgery (blepharoplasty), dermal fillers, and Botox. Dr. Colwell also teaches abdominoplasty and body-contouring techniques to plastic surgery residents at Harvard; she uses innovative technologies, including ultrasonic liposuction and fat grafting, within her practice.
Dr. Colwell’s practice philosophy is to work closely with each patient to develop a personalized plan of care based on a careful analysis of their individual anatomy and aesthetic desires.
