About Aaron J. Berger, MD

Dr. Aaron J. Berger, MD, PhD, is a plastic surgeon certified by the board with subspecialty certification in hand surgery. He is nationally known for his skills in reconstractive microsurgery and reconstructive surgical management of complex upper extremity conditions. He earned his medical degree and doctorate in experimental pathology through the Yale University Medical Scientist Training Program. He completed his plastic surgery residency at Stanford University Medical Center and also completed fellowship training in hand surgery and microsurgery at UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Berger was the inaugural awardee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand’s International Hand Surgery Fellowship, in which he received advanced training with a concentration on the surgical treatment of brachial plexus injuries, congenital hand deformities, and complex upper extremity trauma in China.

Dr. Berger is currently at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where he serves on a multidisciplinary team in the management of patients with congenital hand and arm differences, brachial plexus injuries, nerve and tendon injuries, amputations, post-burn and trauma deformities, and post-oncologic reconstructive needs. Dr. Berger’s research is focused on optimizing outcomes in the surgical management of brachial plexus birth injuries and congenital upper limb conditions. He is an active educator and has written many articles published in peer-reviewed journals and in medical textbook chapters.
