Dr. Andreas M. Lamelas is an experienced surgeon with board certification in the specialty of Plastic Surgery. He is especially known for his expertise in reconstructive breast surgery, body contouring, skin cancer reconstruction, and facial and body aesthetics. As a fellowship-trained microsurgeon from Harvard University, Dr. Lamelas practices using only the patient’s own tissues to reconstruct the breast, and he specializes in treating lymphedema that occurs after breast cancer treatment. Dr. Lamelas is committed to providing his patients with optimal functional and aesthetic results from their surgical procedures.
Before attending medical school, Dr. Lamelas completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering with Honours at the University of Virginia and later earned his Medical Degree at Temple University School of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Lamelas was one of four students selected to join the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society as an early member. He completed his residency training in Plastic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he served as Chief Resident. After completing his residency, Dr. Lamelas went on to complete a highly competitive Fellowship in Microsurgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Lamelas has been an active participant in advancing the field of plastic surgery for many years. He has published many peer-reviewed papers and book chapters, as well as presented at many national academic meetings. He is very passionate about providing patient-centered care by creating strong relationships with patients and developing an individualized approach to surgery to obtain the best surgical results.
Dr. Lamelas and his wife, Brooke, live in both New York and Connecticut. They spend their leisure time traveling, taking photographs, playing tennis, trying out different restaurants, and unwinding with a good book.
